April is Parkinson's Awareness Month! We appreciate all the support we get, but also want you to take the time to learn about Parkinson's. Parkinson's is a disease that affects the entire family, not just the person with Parkinson's.
According to Parkinsons.org: "An estimated 4-6 million people around the world suffer from Parkinson’s disease. In the United States, 50-60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year and approximately 1 million Americans currently live with PD. The Center for Disease Control rated complications from Parkinson’s disease as the 14th leading cause of death in the country. There is hope, however, as scientists make progress in identifying the best treatment options for patients." Some of the scientists that are making that hope are right here in the Lowcountry at The Murray Center. The proceeds from our event go to support their efforts in finding better treatments and ultimately a cure. Please take some time to look over our website to see how you can help make a difference with us! Also, take a few minutes to watch us on Lowcountry Live. http://www.abcnews4.com/video?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=8728404
